ALOR SETAR, June 4 — Tunku Temenggong of Kedah Tan Sri
Tunku Sallehhuddin Sultan Badlishah has been appointed Kedah Council of
Regency chairman, replacing the late Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Sultan
Badlishah effective May 21.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir said that
the appointment was consented by the Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim
Mu’adzam Shah.
“On behalf of the state government, I wish to extend our
heartiest appreciation and congratulations to Tunku Temenggong for the
appointment,” he said in a statement today.
Tunku Annuar, 75, who was the Sultan’s younger brother, passed
away following a heart attack at the Ipoh Pantai Hospital at 12.20am on
May 21.
Tunku Annuar along with his younger brothers, Tunku Sallehuddin and
Tan Sri Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani as well as Tuanku Abdul Halim’s
daughter, Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz were appointed to the
regency in December 2012 following the Sultan’s appointment as the 14th
Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
